What an amazing, fun weekend. And yet, I have so few pictures to document it.
On Friday, I went on a bike ride with Melanie and the boys. Preston likes to tell me he thinks its a race (he should win) by either telling me to slow down, or telling me we are NOT racing (code for slow down and let him pass me).
That afternoon Josh and I went fishing to Pelican Lake on our float tubes. We caught quite a few fish, were attacked by swarms and swarms of bugs, and were still in the lake at dark. Because we were out in our float tubes, I didn't dare take my camera with me.
On Saturday, I spent most of the day scrapbooking because they kept pushing back the pickup time for Bountiful Baskets. Finally around 3:00 they called to admit that the truck was lost and no one knew where it was. They were cancelling the pickup and refunding our money. I was a little bummed, but mostly, I was worried about all that produce. The truck was supposed to go to like eight different sites. What will happen to all that food?!
When I was still planning on getting a basket, but at a much later time (it was pushed back 6 hours before they cancelled it), I decided to turn the trip into a date night. I spent an hour doing my hair and makeup and I was not going to let that go to waste after the cancellation. So we went to Vernal and went to Cafe Rio and then did some shopping. On the way home, we stopped at my mom's house and soaked in her hot tub. What a relaxing way to end the night.
On Sunday we went for a horse ride. We still haven't found a horse for me, but Dallon let me ride his horse, Shorty. Shorty is like a tourist. He spends the whole time looking everywhere, but in front of him. He has to take in all the sights around him and try all the food he passes. Then we stayed to help do chores. For the third night in a row, we didn't get to bed until about 11:00.
Today we started our 4th of July celebrations with my dad's family. When I was younger, they always did a big breakfast on the 4th of July, but it had died away over the years. This year the cousins all said how much they missed it, so the tradition was started again. Of course I had to show off, so I took home made English Muffins.
Holding my nephew Valex. He was okay with that as long as him mom kept feeding him.
Early this morning, Josh went fishing. He was so proud of his fish that he decided he couldn't clean them until everyone in his family saw them.
My English Muffins from this morning. You can find the recipe on my cooking blog HERE.
This afternoon we went to Josh's parents for a picnic with the extended family. When we all get together, there is a lot of food, and it is always good. This is a picture of maybe half of the food. I never did get pictures of the rest. I was too busy eating. ;)
I took a fruit tray and a Spinach Strawberry Salad. You can find that recipe HERE. It was so yummy and it looks so pretty in my new serving bowl. I just got new sunflower dishes recently and this was a great way to show them off.
I took a few pictures of the beautiful flowers around Barb's home. I wanted to take more, but the wind was blowing and most of my pictures were fuzzy.
The water hose was leaking. Tyler found that quite fun. Within a short time he was dripping wet from head to toe because of the hose, pouring juice from cup to cup and helping himself to the water cooler.
For dessert there was cake, cupcakes, lemon bars, and some kind of cream cheese desert. It was all so good. Tyler really enjoyed the cupcakes.
