Nobody told me...

In all this time, we've been given a lot of advice and words of wisdom.
Some we have liked, others we've tried to appreciate the person for their efforts.
"You're time will come."
"Just be patient."
"It's all about the Lord's timing."
"It will be worth it."
Nobody has told us how
wonderful it would be.
Nobody told us how exciting
that first email is.
Or each one after that.
Nobody told us how scary that
first phone call is.
Nobody told us how easy
it would be to meet her.
Nobody told us how much
we would love her.
Nobody warned us about all the
new emotions that come along
after being picked.

To read the sad ending to this please read Unchosen.

Savannah,
I started following your blog a while back. And I met you briefly at the adoption conference in August. I don't know if you remember. But, I'm so excited for you! Our birth mom picked us in April, and our beautiful baby boy was born Nov 2. So we waited 6 months. If you ever want to talk, my email is mikeandkira@yahoo.com and if you send me your email, I will invite you to my blog where you can read how I handled those 6 months of waiting! I'm so happy we had that time to get to know our birth mom though, it made the hospital such a comfortable time since we were so close. Congrats and sorry my comment is so long!

Savannah,
I have been reading your blog for a few months. I came across it on Adoption Voices. I am so thrilled for you and your family. What a wonderful blessing it is to be able to be there for your birthmom during her pregnancy. What an amazing Christmas gift.
