Five little kittens

After much drama (mostly on my part) I introduce the 5 newest members of our home.
When I got home tonight I found Ally buried deep inside the blanket in the box we had set out for her. Four of the kittens were all still attached by their umbilical cords. After frantic calls to a few people, including the vet, I decided to cut the cords. I'm so glad I did, because when I started I found that one of the umbilical cords was wrapped tightly around the back foot of another. I'm keeping a close eye on it now, but hopefully everything will be fine. I'll post more pics soon. Both Ally and I are pretty tired.

There are two black, one gray, one orange/white and one calico.

Swimming figures and pink lemonade cupcakes

Last night we learned how to make swimming people using Royal icing.

The inner tubes. (This was the easiest part!)
Here is my people starting to take shape.
All dressed up and ready to go swimming on a cake or cupcakes!
This was my first guy. He was my favorite. He was the only one I could get the toes and fingers to look like toes and fingers.
This guy I think I did the best hair on.
One of my swimming girls.
Another swimming girl.

We also learned how to make lemonade cupcakes. I brought a few home, but I don't think they will last until Josh gets home so I might have to bake some soon so he can try them. I'll post the recipe on my cooking blog when I do.

Kim's mom took the class with us.
Our next classes don't start until the end of the month; I can hardly wait!

One week left!

Poor Ally. She is just HUGE. She loves to jump in our bedroom window and look outside. This week she has gotten too heavy and can't make the jump. She tried but can only catch with her front feet and can't pull herself up. So our bedroom is now a mess. I have our little bench pushed up to the window to help her out and we have the clothes hamper pushed up in front of the dresser because Josh's sock drawer is her new favorite place. We have a large box found that hopefully she will want to have her kittens in. Oh, and yesterday, I'm pretty sure she was drooling.

A cats pregnancy is around 65 days and that will be July 9th. I know she is miserable, but I hope she lasts until Friday so I can be around when she has the babies.

Happy 4th of July

I haven't made a cake since cake class, so I decided the holiday was the perfect excuse to make sure I didn't forget anything. I'm still not confident with my shell border, but using the star tip to make stars was fun. (I did cheat and use a stencil to trace them out first. )
Next year I am going to make a flag inside the cake. Funny fact: I love making and decorating the cakes, but I don't actually eat them. Cake is not my favorite dessert. I forgot how much I LOVE fireworks! Thank you Colter for putting on an awesome show!

Koda didn't like the fireworks. :(

Last week Jessica invited Kim and I over so we could put our newest crafts together. Our girls nights have quickly become my new favorite thing.
Jessica's cat Emilio Jo joins us too.
We usually over run the table while we are there.
Here are the 4th of July kits I ordered and made from the Idea Closet. I've never decorated for the 4th of July before so I ordered a lot of kits this time. As always, I liked the paper they came with, but decided to use some from my Close to My Heart supply.

The round firecrackers looked the cutest, but they were the hardest to make. But I still love them. The square firecrackers. I love how they turned out!
I love the America blocks. So cute!
And I loved the simplicity of the flag. It was so easy and yet it is still gorgeous.
I love how they all turned out. They even match my ugly red wall. :p
I was finally able to get my shelf up. I LOVE it! Now I can have more room to rotate out my kits and the tiles I can't seem to stop buying when I go to the Quilted Bear.

Day in the city

I love trips to the city! Yesterday Jessica and I went to the city. Our first stop ended up being our favorite stop of the day. We went to the Robert's Crafts in Sandy because they were having some good sales and make a take projects.

First we made these cute little gifts bags. I was blown away when they told me they cut these out with the Cricut machine! I am going to order this cartridge!

Now I just need to fill it with goodies so I can give it to my nephew. :)

Then we made this little notepads. They were so fun and I wanted to buy the machine, but.....well, I'm still trying to justify it.
I was also able to buy a few cake supplies. I bought a round and a rectangular cake carrier along with some frosting tips and other fun cake things. Next week I want to make a cake for the 4th of July so I also bought some nice round cake pans. I can't wait to make the cake!
Then we headed to The Quilted Bear. I was surprised at check out and how much I spent. I usually spend a lot more.
A fun new key chain. I love the little fish and the cat standing by the milk jug!
A fun magnet that has magnets in all the paws so you can arrange it in different positions.
In the last few months we have decided to no longer hold back all the fun things we want to do because of the what ifs of life. This magnet and the plaque below are perfect!
Jessica found these cute little jars and they were only $2! So we each got one. We made several other stops, including the Olive Garden. I've decided their Alfredo sauce is about as close to heavenly food that you can get. We went to a few more craft stores, including the new Hobby Lobby. Usually we spend more time clothes shopping, but this trip we spent more time at the craft stores.

The other fun thing I bought was a few cat towers, but they can be connected together. The blue hammock on the left side is actually part of the last tower. I only bought one end piece and thought I would use the hammock until I can get another end piece.
