A few of my favorite things

Sunday was a day full of some of my favorite things.

I finally was able to style my hair the way I want it to look. It took a few hours, but I think with practice, I can get faster and better. This man. I can never get enough of him. And him laying on the floor playing with his nephews, yum, I could just eat him up. Except the dog beat me to it. His parents dog, Oreo, was obsessed with licking his bald head each time he laid down. Good dessert, made by yours truly. This little beauty was a S'mores cheesecake. Family. I don't even bother to use the word in-laws with them because they are so much more then that to me. (How did I miss a picture of Dallon? Oh ya, probably because he was sleeping and then off to institute. I'll get him next time.)I can't get enough of these little guys! But with eyes like Tyler's, and grins like Preston's, who can resist them?
We tried to get some pictures of Tyler and Preston. It was so much fun. Here is just some of the ones I took.

Tyler's 1st birthday is coming up, so we wanted to get a picture to put in the newspaper.

Of course we needed some of Preston too. First he would grin with his eyes closed. When we would tell him to open his eyes, he would open his mouth also. The best shots came after that when we were laughing at him and he was laughing at us. A few pictures of the boys together. Preston playing in the tree while we were taking pictures of Tyler. And of couse, another favorite is lots of laughs. Dallon and Josh were throwing these nerf darts at each other. Apparently they stick well to bald heads.

Flowers

Josh came home this weekend with some flowers he picked out just to let me know he loves me.
He really is the greatest. :)

Meeting Marcia Lynn McClure

Yesterday I got to meet my favorite author, Marcia Lynn McClure. I can't remember when I bought her first book, but I have been hooked ever since.

She came to Utah last year, but it was on the same day as the adoption conference, so I wasn't able to go. This year she went to three different place in Utah. I decided to go to Provo because if I have to drive in the city, its the one city I don't mind.

I guess last year the line was HUGE so this year they had a VIP event before the book signing. I was able to get a ticket which allowed me into the room three hours early with a group of only 25 people! She answered questions (I was even brave enough to ask a few!) and she told stories. As you came in, you received a ticket with a number. Then when she started to sign books, you were called up by your number. I was there early, so I was fourth in line.

Getting ready to leave. I was so excited, so Josh got a picture of me with my VIP ticket.
Along with the ticket, they also wrote your name on a sticky note. Then when Marcia signed our books, she knew how to spell our names. While she was in the middle of signing my books, she grabbed my ticket and signed it too. I thought that was totally awesome, because she had already signed so many books. I took all of my books and bought a book for a friend so in total Marcia signed 24 books and my ticket for me. When it was my turn I asked her to sign ten and if there was time at the end I would come back up to get the others signed, but she told me just pile them on the table and she did them all right then. A few people had a couple books and a few people had several books, but I think I had the most. A few commented that they are still buying her books, they have to okay it with their husbands. Just another reason to love my husband, he doesn't seem to mind when I buy books.
Marcia's husband was also there with her. Her books, "An Old Fashioned Romance" and "The Highwayman of Tanglewood" was inspired because of him. Her friends had once convinced him to dress up like Zorro and come to a restaurant on her birthday. When I saw other people getting his signature, I jumped in that line too. This is his picture in the back of "The Highwayman of Tanglewood." I thought it was also sweet how she didn't sign each book exactly the same. She had a few messages that she alternated through. Each book she would write my name, and then double check the cover; it seemed like each book had its own signature line.
She is as bubbly as she looks in her pictures. It was so cool getting to meet her. I can't wait for next year!

More kitten pictures!

Looks like I'm behind on sharing pictures of the kittens.
They are getting so big! This last week, they have started to play with each other. On the weekends we hang out on the floor. I'm trying to paint my bedroom, so my house is a mess and this matress was on the floor, so we hung out there.
Josh sleeping with his favorite kitten. Ally keeping watch to make sure he doesn't walk off the edge again. Zipper has not gotten along with Ally since we brought her home from her ultrasound. At first he would hiss each time he saw her. Then a few weeks ago he would cry each time he saw her. I think he has missed his best friend. I was so happy to see them sleeping together today.
I have videos of the kittens playing, I'll try to get them loaded.

The Savannah Doll

My dear friend recently started her own business of creating dolls and I absolutely love them. To my utmost delight, she made a doll for me! I got her in the mail last week and I absolutely LOVE her. She came with a few outfits and I change them constantly.

Introducing Savannah

In her cute cow skirt.
Her cute cow print dress.
This is my favorite skirt. I love the pink paisley print!
When I saw her long legs, I thought "Oh, I want to put her arms over her head like a ballerina."
I'm so glad she came with a tutu!

Christine has so many beautiful dolls on her website at Chrissy Lee Creations. She will continue to add new ones, I think she is even working on some boy dolls.

Summer Block Kit

I've had this kit for quite awhile, but just never got it put together. The paper it came with was super cute, but I have such a huge supply that I decided to once again use my own. It was so hard deciding where to put each page, but I love how it turned out.
Thanks again Tracy at The Idea Closet for another cute kit!
