Grandpa Paul

Josh's grandpa Paul passed away this weekend. He was 95. When he passed, I couldn't help but be happy because he was finally reunited with his wife, Leah. I told Josh, even though I didn't get to grow up with his grandparents, they still had a great impact on my life. I loved watching them together. They were married 67 years. Even at that point, you could still see how much they loved each other. That is what I want.

Then I realized, we are already like them. Josh loves talking about their family trips to the mountains. Grandma would tell grandpa to turn the radio down. But each time he would try, she would get after him to keep both hands on the steering wheel. With Josh and I, I am always reminding him to stop looking for elk and beaver dams and keep his eyes on the road.

Thank you grandpa for letting us have so much time with you. Because of you, Josh is the amazing man he is today. The Lord has taken you home to him. The family may bicker over who gets what, but we still have our memories and they are what we prize the most. We love you grandpa.

I'm so sorry for your loss. You've written a beautiful tribute to your memories and the impact Josh's grandpa (and grandma) had on your life and the man your husband has become. Beautiful.
