Electric Run

Back in March, Vanessa saw a link on Facebook for an Electric Run. I showed it to Josh and the three of us decided to sign up for it.

It felt forever away, but race day finally came. The race was at Thanksgiving Point in Lehi.
Josh didn't care to dress up, but Vanessa and I made good use of a tube of 100 glow bracelets.

The race took FOREVER to start. Apparently, "The Bachelor" was bringing a date and the race couldn't start without him. I was less them impressed. Find someone who can be on time!

We knew it would be big, but we had no idea. Just that morning, they announced they still had 500 tickets for sale. The race was set up for 6500!

Josh ran it in about 26 minutes. Vanessa and I stopped for pictures along the way, so it took us a little longer.

I've decided I don't mind running when there is a lot of distractions to help me forget I am running. We had fun and hope to do it again.

Conformity

Back in March, I left Facebook. After I got over the withdrawals, I found life to be a lot simpler.

Then we moved. I had a ton of stuff to get rid of and I decided to go back to Facebook and use the yard sale group. I made a nice chunk of cash and got rid of a ton of stuff.

Then I got back off Facebook.

Then I got back on to sell more stuff.

Then I got back off.

This past weekend, I needed to contact someone, but I didn't have their information. So I went back to Facebook to get ahold of them. As I was browsing around, I noticed my grandma had surgery. Over a week ago. I felt so bad that I didn't know!

The sad fact is, the world now revolves around Facebook.

Years ago, we didn't have email or cell phones. I put off getting texting for years because I didn't think it was a necessity.

But with the way technology keeps expanding, you either have to stay caught up or get left out.

So I've decided to officially reactivate my Facebook account, but keep it simple. I don't plan to post pictures there because I have my blog. I plan to keep my friends list short and sweet.

My last argument for avoiding Facebook was Josh thought I spent too much time there. But lately, he has a gun website and a trapping website that he is obsessed with. His argument is no longer valid. I've dropped the same hints he used to drop at me when I was on the computer a lot. I guess we are still trying to find a medium there.

Its weird, because I said depression was part of the reason I wanted off. But now, I feel so cut off from everyone that I'm still as troubled as I used to be.

There just is no winning. When you can't beat them, join them. They're all over on Facebook.

Daxsen's 2nd Birthday

Daxsen's 2nd Birthday was while we were on our camping trip; so Vanessa had decided to have his party this weekend.

When we were trying to decide on a cake, we let Daxsen look at the computer screen with us. He seems to get the most excited about the airplane one, so that is what we ordered.

It turned out so cute! I LOVE that I can make such cute cakes for my nephews. It really means the world to me.

Vanessa said he needed clothes and I was thrilled to find airplane pj's to match his cake.

The boys went to their dad's so my sister could set up for the party. While she was cooking dinner, my brothers were outside blowing up tons of balloons. I took this picture when they were about half way through.

When the boys got there, Daxsen rushed right out, but Valex stood at the door for a few minutes.

Then the boys went to work popping all of the balloons.

Valex tried so hard to blow one up on his own.

After eating, Daxsen noticed the presents and came right over to get them. So I picked him up so he could open them.

Grandma made sure Valex had a few small ones of his own.

A few weeks ago, we got an ice cream machine. We had made some Rocky Road last night and had some left over cream. So I decided to make Cookies 'n Cream for the party. It was yummy and went perfectly with the cake.

My dad found a scooter for Daxsen and a training bike for Valex. Not that they noticed which was which. They happily played with both. Valex has gotten better at distracting Daxsen with something so he can take whatever he has. Valex wanted the scooter, so he pointed out the bike to Daxsen.

Which he climbed on all by himself. He thinks he is such a big boy.

The cake was delish! Every time his mom looked away, he would try to dish himself another piece.

I can't believe how much these little boys are growing up. I love seeing them grow and learn new things, but I also miss cuddling with Daxsen when he was a baby. By the time he came along, I was finally at a peaceful place with my infertility, so I've always felt closest to him.
