Halloween 2015

I was buried pretty deep in homework this year, but I decided to take a break and go decorate cookies with Vanessa and the boys for Halloween.

This is the face I got when I told Valex to smile.

Daxsen didn't want to offer a smile at all.

Back in September, I attended an online book party. I ended up doing my nephew's Christmas shopping there. But at checkout, they had a few specials, including these monster activity books. They had puzzles, stickers and coloring pages. So I ordered one for each of the older nephews and then a fun "touch and feel" book for Colt.

I love that Vanessa sent me a picture, a few weeks later, of the boys playing with their activity books.

Halloween Cupcakes

My grandma has been begging me to bring cupcakes to a family dinner. I decided this would be a perfect time to make some fun Halloween cupcakes. I make chocolate flavored Frankentien's Monster and then some vanilla cupcakes, dyed orange.

They were both delicious, but I think we all loved the chocolate ones the most.

Nephew's Halloween Shirts 2015

Since I went back to school this year, its been harder to stay on top of traditions this year. I didn't have much time to shop for Halloween shirts, but I couldn't skip out on that tradition entirely. So I found some cute pumpkin shirts on Amazon.

And a matching onesie for Colt.

Halloween 2014

This year, I kept my Halloween costume simple. I decided to just wear my Halloween apron and a chef's hat. I also had some Halloween spatula's.

Before going to do some trick or treating with the older nephews, I went to see Colt. Since he is too young for any treats, I found a cute outfit for him instead.

That boy is always giggles and grins.

For the older nephews, I did an assortment of treat bags. I had Ghost poop (mini marshmallows), bat droppings (chocolate covered raisins), and witch fingernails (bugle chips). I also found a fun drinking straw and a sucker that had a bug inside it.

We were going to do the main street Halloween parade, but it was insane this year. The foot traffic was barely crawling and there wasn't as many businesses handing out candy. Vanessa and I only walked 2 blocks and decided it wasn't worth it. We had heard the football team was doing one at the high school, so we went there. Melanie and the boys met us just as we got there.

While we were there, Valex saw my spatula's and asked what they were for. Melanie told him they were to paddle his bum. After we were done at the high school, I went home and told Vanessa to just call me when she went to take the kids to grandpa's house. When I met them there, Valex asked me where my "paddles" were. I had forgot them at home, so I told him I had been cooking with them. The look on his face was priceless when he said, "You cook food with the paddles?"

Trying to get a picture with 4 small boys is an adventure. I was so excited to be able to spend the afternoon with most of my favorite boys.

Nephews Halloween Shirts 2014

Buying Halloween shirts for my nephews is still my favorite tradition. This year, I got 2 shirts for each nephew.

For Colt:

I had a problem with my order and one of Tyler's shirts didn't show up. I hurried and ordered a 2nd one, but couldn't wait to give them their shirts. So I gave them each one on Sunday. Preston's is on the left, Tyler's on the right:

When the other shirt got here on Tuesday, I took it over after work. Tyler's is on the left, Preston's is on the right. It was perfect timing because Tyler was supposed to wear orange to school the next day.

For Valex:

For Daxsen:

Tonight, I got my own surprise. Preston & Tyler found some Halloween bracelets. They picked out one for their mom and then one for their aunt Savannah. I love it!

Halloween 2013

This year, I almost didn't dress up. I couldn't find a time, when everyone could come, to my Halloween Party, so I didn't feel the need to get a costume. I should have known better. A week ago, I started having a panic attack because I didn't have a costume for Halloween. I decided to just do something simple, a witch. I found a few things in town, and then ordered the rest from Amazon.

I got up early so I could do spider web eye makeup.

As always, I was the only one dressed up at work. But I enjoy it.

I got off early so I could go do the Main Street Parade with Vanessa and the boys.

That actually worked out really well. Our little Bat decided to remind us why they call it the terrible two's, and he went home early with his mom.

But I stayed with the Ninja Turtle and we had a blast.

This was later that afternoon when he was getting ready to go out with his dad.

The boys opening the treat bags I made for them.

Cute story; yesterday, when I told Valex I had a gift for him, he asked, "is it a helicopter?" Not sure where that even came from. But today, I found a cute toy helicopter and I had to buy it for him just because he said that yesterday. I'm in trouble if they ever figure out just how tightly they have me wrapped around their little fingers.

After I finished at my sister's, I drove up to Altamont to see my other nephews. I can't believe how big they are getting. Each age just amazes me at what they can do. Preston is so smart. And Tyler is such a ham.
LOVE that he was a John Deere Tractor. That is the PERFECT costume for him. I can see him wearing that until it falls off in rags.

They used their stickers to decorate their pails before heading out to go trick or treating.

I am about to be even more blessed as an aunt. Melanie and her family are moving to town and will only be a mile away from me. I'm so excited to be surrounded by all my favorite boys.

Nephew Halloween Treats 2013

Halloween is one of my favorite holidays. It always has been. But its even more so now because I use it as another excuse to spoil my nephews. I start each October with a few Halloween shirts for them and then end the month with a goodie bag.
I saw the idea for the Jack-o-lanterns on Pinterst. When I saw the green jello cups and the pear cups, I decided to do a monster and a ghost too.

Can't wait to see my favorite boys tomorrow all dressed up.

Halloween Cookies

This morning, while I was frosting my Monster cake, Vanessa texted to see if I wanted to frost cookies with her and the boys. Of course, I said yes. She said they would be doing it after nap time in this afternoon.

Frosting cookies with two little boys is.....an adventure.
One of use wasn't fully clothed for the first cookie.
There was lots of double dipping.
And re-frosting of cookies that had been licked off.
And that was just me.
Kidding. I was fully clothed.
And I only double dipped once.
But I ate the entire cookie.

However, I think cookie had its fourth layer of frosting by the time I left. Valex said he didn't like the cookie part.

Vanessa had been helping Daxsen with the frosting, but when she turned away to grab something, he did it him self. He was so proud!

Or maybe it was the sugar rush. We dipper multiple times into the bowls.
Right at the end, my brother John asked which cookie would be safe to eat. We just laughed.

When Daxsen got bored with frosting the cookies, he played with them like they were toys.

He was being a tiger with the cat cookie.

It was a lot of fun. My sister is always so good to me by inviting me to stuff like this. I'm sure to others, it seems like nothing. But it makes me the happiest aunt in the world when I get to do stuff with my nephews.
