Christmas Cupcakes

This year, I volunteered to bring cupcakes to the Woman's Ministry Christmas party. I couldn't decide on just one kind, so in the end I made three.

The Christmas tree cupcakes had a cream cheese filling.

The peppermint cupcakes were layered red & white inside.
I loved how they turned out, but I also learned that 3 kinds might be too much to tackle all in one day.

Halloween Cupcakes

My grandma has been begging me to bring cupcakes to a family dinner. I decided this would be a perfect time to make some fun Halloween cupcakes. I make chocolate flavored Frankentien's Monster and then some vanilla cupcakes, dyed orange.

They were both delicious, but I think we all loved the chocolate ones the most.

Colt's Birthday Cake

I was excited when Natalie said she wanted a smash cake for Colt's Birthday. That is something my family always did, so its one of the traditions I have missed most as a childless couple. I know I say this with each cake I make, but I think this one is my favorite.

We looked at several ideas online. I was going to make a regular round cake, but then I found these cute little pans. The kit included 5 small pans that were six inches wide. It takes a full cake box to make the cake, but you get more layers. I loved how tall and small it was at the same time.
I also ordered some black fondant, a black sugar sheet, Mickey Mouse cupcake liners, Mickey Mouse sprinkles and a Mickey Mouse sandwich cutter, to use with the fondant since I'm not the best at free hand.

Since my cake was 5 layers, I decided to do alternating layers of black & red.

I also made cupcakes for the guests.

The sandwich cutter was perfect for the fondant. I put one Mickey silhouette on top and then three more silhouettes around the side.
I used the sugar sheet to cut out small Mickey silhouettes to use on the cupcakes. They are edible, but I didn't think they tasted that great. But they were perfect to decorate with!

#MicroblogMonday: Panda Cupcakes

Valex turned 5 yesterday. We're having the family party next week, but Vanessa asked me to help make cupcakes for him to take to daycare.

He had asked for panda cupcakes. She also told me that he wanted a hero cake for his birthday. Before I added supplies, I decided to check one more time. When she asked him if he wanted a hero style cake, he became concerned because he really wanted "bear cupcakes." But when she told him he still got those also, he cheered right back up.

I feel so blessed to be the aunt of these cute boys. I was able to take a break at work and deliver the cupcakes. I was having a really bad day, but when I saw them, my heart swelled with love and I was able to smile for a moment.

We frosted the cupcakes in white frosting and then dipped them in sanding sugar. It gave them a really cute texture, but I felt bad for the mess it left on the tables. We used chocolate chips for the ears and the nose. On some cupcakes, we sued candy eyes and then outlined them in black gel frosting. But we also made some eyes with chocolate chips, a dab of white frosting and a black pearl sprinkle.

I love these boys so much!!

#MicroblogMondays: Cupcakes

My latest obsession has been baking cupcakes. (Or if you ask Josh, I'm just trying to make him fat.)

So far, I have made:

I probably have another 50 recipes I want to try. The problem is, each time I get on Pinterest, I add several more. I have loved each of them, but I think the Oreo one has been my favorite, so far. To see the recipe, just click on the name of the cupcake and it will take you to the correct link.
