Josh threw a TON more strikes than I did. We played four rounds and he won each time...by quite a bit.

Pelican Lake (again)

We had so much fun a few weeks ago at Pelican Lake, that we decided to go again. We caught a total of 23 fish!
Josh was so excited that he called his grandpa Mike before we were even out of the lake.

Tamiflu should be a diet drug

Firstly, because if you need this drug, lets face it: you are too sick to be eating anyway. You cut out tons of calories when you are this sick. And don't worry, if you suddenly think you are well enough to eat, your body will remind you that you aren't and it will do what it needs to reverse your eating efforts.

When you do start to actually feel better after a few days rest, Tamiflu is still there. If you take the pill without food, it will make you think you are sick once again and you will desire no food. Or if you read the label and see that this pill should be taken with food, you will eat as little as possible because Tamiflu makes it all taste the same... like crap. Even chocolate will no longer taste good while Tamiflu is in your system.

But despite that, I am glad to be feeling better. The first half of the week is a blur to me. I may or may not have napped in the doctor's office and followed that with a good, long cry on the phone with hubby (that freaked him out) because I was still tired. That or maybe I cried because I was informed that I had the Type 1 Influenza and should avoid ALL people. A lot of good that did me. I had to hitch a ride to the doctor because my car wouldn't start, and now that person is sick.

I also made sure to have a mattress in the front room so I could sleep in front of the TV when I was sick of sleeping in the bed. And that must be a lot of sleeping, because I never tire of sleeping in my bed, well except after countless hours... I was even to sick to do any of my favorite relaxing activities such as: read, crochet, or even soak in the tub. How sick can a person get?

Oh, and despite his best efforts (like drinking from my cup, trying to kiss me, insisting that he really does get more sleep with me coughing on him than if I were to sleep in another room, and even taking his temperature "just for fun," right after I did) Josh didn't get sick. That is so unfair! Well, maybe not. Just because I suffered doesn't mean he should to. We all know how men get when they don't feel well...

We haven't rescheduled our camping trip yet, but we will soon. After an entire week off of work, I get to return to the work force on Monday and that is when I will beg for more days off so we can take our long awaited trip.

My little taste of motherhood

Friday was a great day. I had the chance to babysit a 10 month old little boy who is just about the cutest baby ever. It was awesome. We had him for quite a few hours which meant that Josh and I both had a chance to feed him a bottle and rock him to sleep. I can't remember the last time I was so HAPPY. I still have a perm-a-grin!

But all of this was done at my own risk. When I was asked to babysit I was informed that asickness was going through the family. But he wasn't showing any signs so I agreed. Poor guy, his fever started while we had him.

Yesterday my fever started. I didn't sleep well last night and today I am just plain sick. But I still think it was worth it. For eight hours I got to be with a child. Plus I figure that is a part of motherhood. Your kids get sick and then you get sick. Thank you Shallan for those few hours of bliss.

Adoption Update

We are still praying for the birth mom that our file was presented to a back in May. I did talk to our case worker last week and he hasn't heart anything from her caseworker. We still include her in our daily prayers and hope that if she does make an adoption plan, we can be the couple she chooses.

We have started to look into adopting from the foster care system. We don't feel that foster care is the right thing for our family right now, since we both work, but maybe we can just adopt a waiting child. Every Monday Another Small Adventure does Matching Monday and therefore, every Monday, I fall in love with some little child, but I'm never brave enough to inquire.

A few weeks ago, I started to get more serious and I am now looking at more waiting children. I fell in love with two little boys, but they didn't feel right for our family, but I think a friend is inquiring about them. Last week I feel in love with another sibling group, and I did submit a form of interest for them. Being the impatient person I am I also went ahead and made a phone call. They just called me back and helped me get connected to the right office.

It looks like we are playing a waiting game again. The caseworker over these children is actually on vacation, but another gal was nice enough to start our inquiry. She said that it takes up to 30 days for them to contact us. Good thing we are going to stay busy this month so I won't have time to think about it too much.

Right now I don't want to give out too much information about these children. They are located in an adjoining state. They are almost one and almost 2. Not the infants I had in mind, but still young enough that I can hopefully cuddle with them.

Thank you to those who are keeping us in their thoughts and prayers. We can fill your love and support. Also a big thank you to those who are donating to our adoption cause. It makes our dreams seem a little closer. Our yardsale is in two weeks and we hope to raise a good amount of money to go towards our adoption, especailly since we are now looking at a sibling group.

Tribute to Josh

I realize this is a few days late, but since Josh is the only person in my life, I try to celebrate that everyday. Several people criticized us when we married so young, but he makes my life complete. It's hard to remember that I had a life before him.

A few weeks ago we went to the new Pixar Movie, "UP." That is another thing I have wanted to write about, but I can't seem to make it sound right. Wow, about sums it up. I especially love how they addressed that infertility does happen and they didn't give it the Hollywood Miracle Pregnancy Fix. In real life, there are couples who can't have children. Thank you Pixar for addressing that.

Ever since going to the movie, Josh has been even better about making sure the two of us remember that we are a family. He was awesome before, but now we both have this new enthusiasm to make our own adventures. Life is not what we expected, but that doesn't mean that we just stop living.

Josh is also great to point out that we can and will survive infertility. We have each other to take care of and love and we work hard at that.

He also keeps me grounded. Yesterday morning when I woke up to find the fridge not working, I wanted to freak out and before I met him I would have. But he has a way of staying calm. It's only a fridge, they are replaceable. We still have each other (and our kittens and puppy).

I know that someday Josh will be a great father. I can see it in his eyes, his heart, his spirit. I can sense it in the way he treats me and those he comes in contact with.

Josh, thank you so much for loving me.

Be Careful What You Wish For...

Sunday night I was sick and went to bed a little early. When the alarm went off Monday morning, I couldn't help but think, "oh, if I'm still sick I don't have to go to work today." But I got up and felt just fine. Until I opened the fridge...

I ended up getting the day off anyways because our fridge went out and we needed to get a new one. Last night this guy showed up in the field in by our house. We had fun watching him for a few minutes.

This year Vernal did Seven Brides for Seven Brothers. Josh was "Adam" in this play his senior year. He did an awesome job, and even though the people in this play did well, I still prefer to watch Josh on the stage. We had never been to the Vernal Amphitheater, it was lots of fun. It was rainy all night, and they discourage photography so I didn't get my camera out. We will defiantly try to go back next year.

We choose to do this a little differently since we live in the country were their really isn't blocks. We decided it would be fun to have a get together of families in the adoption world. The weather was kind of cool, but at least it didn't rain. We had so much fun visiting with our friends in the adoption world. My cousins who are also looking to adopt came and then another couple came that just adopted a baby girl a few months ago. She was so cute! One more family was able to come and they have three adopted children and are busy getting ready to adopt two little boys in the next few weeks.

While we were in Vernal we stopped to see Josh's grandparents. Grandma's flowers are so beautiful I just had to take a few pictures.

Pelican Lake

This year the local newspaper has a contest. They put out a booklet of 101 Things to See & Do. I had the wild idea that it would be fun to try and do a lot of the things on the list. I know we will have a lot of fun, but I'm also hoping for some more pictures to add to our adoption profile. The contest goes until the end of September. We just have to have pictures or receipts with dates showing that we did them.

Tonight Josh got off work a little early so we decided to drive 45 minutes to Pelican Lake. Every year we talk about fishing there, but we never have. We got there at about 6:00 and by the time we had our float tubes blown up and our waders on we were in the water at about 6:30. We were supposed to be fishing for blue gill, but right away I caught 3 small mouth bass. Finally about sunset we started to catch some blue gill. We caught a total of 5 small mouth bass and 5 blue gill, but we only kept three of each. We had an absolute blast and we were still in the water after sunset.

The only bummer was that since we were in our tubes I didn't dare take my cameras. Last year I fell in because my tube wasn't fully inflated. I missed my camera so much. There was a ton of birds on the lake and they were so fun to watch. I know I could have gotten some awesome pictures if I'd have had my bigger camera. But we plan to go again and hopefully we can go with grandpa and his boat next time.
